A Story of Community, Compassion, and Cupcakes: The Heart Behind The Ivoryton Tavern

When Bridget took ownership of The Ivoryton Tavern in December 2019, she saw more than just a business opportunity—she saw a chance to become part of a close-knit community and expand her “family.” But just a few months later, when the world came to a standstill with the onset of COVID-19, Bridget saw a different kind of opportunity: to give back.

And give back she did.

Bridget began making sandwiches and handing them out every Saturday to anyone in need. She organized fundraisers and collected donations for the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, gathered an incredible amount of non-perishable food for the Shoreline Food Pantry, held weekly raffles to support local businesses, and even raised funds for a family who had lost their home to a fire. During an incredibly difficult time, she became a beacon of support—and her efforts made a real difference.

Amidst it all, Bridget was also facing a personal loss. Her beloved mother, Charlotte “Elaine” Whitby, passed away from breast cancer. In her grief, Bridget felt called to help others walking a similar path. That’s when she connected with Team Strong Enough—a group of inspiring women who walk in the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF) marathon each October. Whether as survivors, in memory of loved ones, or in solidarity, these women left a lasting mark on Bridget’s heart.

Their strength sparked a tradition that continues to this day: “Baked By Bridget” cupcakes.

Since then, Bridget has baked thousands of cupcakes, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to TBBCF. In addition to the sweet treats, The Ivoryton Tavern has hosted raffles throughout October to further boost donations. Since 2020, Bridget and her Tavern family have raised and donated an incredible $28,228 to the cause.

These cupcakes aren’t just delicious—they carry the love and legacy of Elaine. Each one tells a story of hope, resilience, and the power of community.

Bridget is deeply grateful to all her friends, family, loyal patrons, and the TBBCF for their unwavering support. She is proud to be a part of such an amazing community and knows that none of this would be possible without the generosity and kindness of those around her.

From the bottom of her heart, thank you.
